AutoCinema Privacy Policy

Last updated: 4 October 2026

AutoCinema is an iPhone and CarPlay player for your own playlists, videos and media servers. It is developed by İsmail Budak ("we"). This policy explains what data the app handles and where it goes.

In short

  • No account, no ads, no tracking, and we don't sell your data.
  • Your playlists, logins, videos and viewing history stay on your iPhone.
  • Purchases go through Apple and RevenueCat, so AutoCinema Pro unlocks and can be restored.
  • Only if you allow it, on the last welcome page or later in Settings, the app sends usage statistics and crash reports that aren't linked to you to Google (Firebase). You can turn this off at any time in Settings › Share usage data.

Data that stays on your iPhone

Everything you add is stored only on your device and is never sent to us:

  • Playlists (M3U links or files), Xtream logins and Jellyfin or Emby servers. Passwords and access tokens are kept in the iOS Keychain.
  • Your own videos and subtitle files from Photos or Files.
  • Favorites, viewing history, playback positions, reminders and settings.

The app connects directly from your iPhone to the servers in your playlists; we never see these connections. AutoCinema contains no channels or content. Subtitle translation uses Apple's on-device translation; your subtitles are not sent to us.

Permissions

  • Location (only while you use the app): to tell whether the car is parked, so car mode shows video only while parked. This needs Precise Location; with location off or set to Approximate, car mode plays sound only. Your speed is checked on the device; your location is never stored or sent.
  • Local network: to reach media servers and playlists on your home network.
  • Camera: only to scan a QR code to add a playlist. No images are stored or sent.
  • Notifications: for the programme reminders you set. They are scheduled on your iPhone.

Purchases (Apple and RevenueCat)

Payments are handled by Apple; we never see your payment details or your Apple Account. To unlock AutoCinema Pro and restore it on your devices, the app uses RevenueCat, Inc. RevenueCat receives a random ID created by the app, your purchase details from Apple (product, price, currency, dates and transaction ID), your App Store country, the app and system versions, the device type, Apple's identifier for this app on your device, and the IP address of each request. This data is not linked to your name or contact details. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.

RevenueCat keeps purchase records while they are needed to provide and restore AutoCinema Pro, and as long as tax and accounting law requires. We delete them when you ask.

Usage statistics and crash reports (Google Firebase)

Only if you allow it, on the last welcome page or in Settings › Share usage data, the app uses Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics, provided by Google LLC. Nothing is sent before you choose.

  • Usage statistics: a random ID for this installation; which features are used (for example a playlist added and its type, playback started, the car connected, car mode opened, the Pro screen shown, a Pro plan bought); sessions, screens viewed and app updates; device model, system version, app version and language; and an approximate location (country and city) that Google derives from your IP address.
  • Crash reports: technical details of a crash: where in the code it happened, the device model, system and app versions, and the free memory and storage at the time.

We never send channel names, stream or playlist addresses, playlist names, usernames or passwords. The app does not use Apple's advertising identifier (IDFA). Advertising features, ad personalization and Google signals are turned off; the data is not used for ads and is not linked to you. Google keeps detailed usage data for 2 months and crash reports for 90 days; after that only aggregated reports remain. See Firebase's privacy information and Google's privacy policy.

If you turn usage data off, the app stops sending both and deletes crash reports that were not yet sent.

Legal basis

Where the GDPR or Turkey's personal data law (KVKK) applies, usage statistics and crash reports are based on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time in Settings. Processing purchases is necessary to provide what you bought.

Service providers and international transfers

Google (Firebase) and RevenueCat process the data described above only on our behalf, under contracts that require them to protect it at least as well as this policy and Apple's App Store Review Guidelines require. They process it in the United States and other countries, under their data processing terms and standard contractual clauses.

Children

AutoCinema is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Your choices and rights

  • Turn usage data off at any time: Settings › Share usage data.
  • Deleting the app removes everything it stored on your iPhone, except saved Xtream passwords and media server sign-in keys: iOS may keep those in the Keychain after the app is gone. To remove them, delete those playlists in the app first.
  • Subscriptions are managed in your Apple Account settings.
  • You can ask for access to, correction or deletion of your data, object to its processing, and complain to your data protection authority. Because the data above is not linked to your identity, we usually cannot find it by your name; write to us and we will help.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above.
